Independent public relations consultant providing service in publicity, media relations, special event planning, marketing and writing

My Experience

When I entered the work force fresh out of the Creative Communications program at Red River College back in the late 1980’s, I never would have imagined where my journey in the PR world would lead me.

From community television in 1988 to agencies to corporate and non-profit until 2000, I spent 12 years developing and implementing PR strategies; coordinating special and annual events; writing campaigns, publications and annual reports; managing media relations activities and the list goes on and on.

Aside from the experience, awesome portfolio pieces and a corner office, one of the most valuable assets that I took from those years were the relationships in the industry that I had established which made going out on my own in 2000 that much easier.

I’ve been privileged to work with exceptional clients and have partnered with other PR professionals and agencies that have called on me to work on a variety of projects on their behalf.

As publicist,

I have worked with productions like Cavalia’s Odysseo that played Winnipeg and broke attendance records with two months of sold out shows. I have worked for over 10 years with family entertainment arena shows such as Feld Entertainment’s Disney On Ice, Monster Jam and Marvel Universe Live. I have worked with seven Cirque du Soleil productions, Walking with Dinosaurs on two occasions and How to Train your Dragon Arena Spectacular. I’ve also worked in the arts, culture, music and tourism industry by promoting events such as the 2014 JUNO Awards, Culture Days, National Congress on the Arts, Manitoba Homecoming, Winnipeg BBQ & Blues Festival, Saison Voyageur and various performances and concerts.

As writer,

I have written every type of collateral material imaginable including online content and social media development. My work can be seen in the last four editions of the career-planning publication called Manitoba Prospects as well as the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg website.

As communications specialist,

I have been working with the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg for over five years. I have collaborated and worked with other PR and marketing companies like Dooley Communications, Beyond Referrals, Carl Radimer & Associates and Strauss event and association management where I have provided my marketing, PR and media relations expertise for such clients as Henteleff Park Foundation, Ford of Canada, Bressante, Rotary Career Symposium, Rady Sports Dinner, Gold Medal Plates, Manitoba RV Show and The Neighbourhoods of Bridgwater. As I work independently and have the flexibility, I have been fortunate to have been able to take on term positions as marketing and event coordinator for True North Sports and Entertainment and Kildonan Place Shopping Centre.

As volunteer,

I currently share my expertise with the Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil Gala, TEDxManitoba and have chaired the Winnipeg Dance Force fundraising committee.
